Curry Brings Home Silver for the Second Straight Year
MON, Mar 29, 2010 - North Hills youth wrestler Gage Curry (12U-75 pounds, 2nd place) earned All-State honors on Saturday at the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling state championship tournament held at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Curry started the tournament off strong on Friday with a first period fall over Logan Gray out of Area VIII. A 10-5 decision over Area II's Jonathan Gabriel landed Gage in Saturday mornings semifinals.
Gage kicked off Saturday mornings semifinal round with a dominating 9-0 victory over Area X champion Brian Friery to land himself in the state finals for the second year in a row. In the championship final, Gage lost a close 2-0 match to Eric Hong out of Area VII who he had beaten two weeks earlier to advance to the state tournament.
This was the second year in a row that Gage had made it to the state finals and the fifth straight year he has earned All-State honors. Gage will be back again next season looking to bring home that much deserved state championship wrestling for the North Hills Jr. High team.
