West Mifflin Holiday Tournament
The Indians were on the road the past week competing in the West Mifflin Holiday Tournament. The Indians knew they would have a realistic chance to bring home another West Mifflin team title, but it would take a complete team effort from each wrestler.
After two days of competitions amongst 29 teams the Indians fought their way to the top with 202.5 team points bringing home their second team title in 3 years. The Indians put together their best team effort of the season with every wrestler scoring points and contributing to the team title. The Indians closed out the first day of competition with the team lead and had advanced 11 of its 12 wrestlers to the second day of competition.
Throughout the second day of competition the Indians got tough competition from two other teams from the same section as the Indians (Section 3), the Plum Mustangs and the Shaler Titans. While the team race narrowed by 3 points near the conclusion of the semi-final round. The Indians would close out the tournament strong by winning 3 first place, 1 second place, 2 third place, and 2 fifth place medals.
The Indians also had the most outstanding wrestler of the tournament in Gage Curry. Two-time returning state place winner Curry put on a pinning display throughout the tournament by pinning all 4 of his opponents in a combined time of 6 minutes and 54 seconds.
The Indians demonstrated much growth and poise throughout the tournament and gained valuable confidence to help prepare them for the weeks to come. The Indians will be back in action this Monday against Mars at Home at 7 o'clock.

Indian of the Week
This week's Indian of the week demonstrated much mental toughness throughout the tournament. He lost his first-round match and wrestled all the way back through the wrestle-backs to earn a hard earned 3rd place finish. A feat that is very challenging to accomplish. Along the way, he also wrestled and pinned the opponent who beat him in the first-round making his accomplishment that much sweeter. With a 6-1 record this week's Indian of the week is 160lb sophomore, Jake Stotz.
Congratulations Jake and keep up the awesome work!
